Teresa

Teresa was born and raised in Michigan. She was married at the age of 17 and divorced five years later. She has two children, a daughter who is 39 and a son who is 34; she is also a proud grandma to a 10 year old grandson. They all still reside in Michigan.
Teresa found herself in Texas after visiting a friend here in the early 90’s. She was ready to get out of the discrimination and violence of Michigan so she packed up her belongings and the rest is history!

About five years ago she heard of the Hope Center through Rebecca Creek. She finds the people who serve here to be very supportive and helpful. In particular, she described Marie Campbell as sweet, happy-go-lucky, very positive, inspirational, and kind; she says Marie has always encouraged her to keep going.
Teresa is now employed at Caterpillar, working as an inspector for the engine line. Though she doesn’t need the Hope Center food pantry as much as she used to, she is grateful that it is there in times of need. She is thankful for what the Hope Center has done for her and continues to do.

Not only has the Hope Center helped Teresa in times of need but she also met her boyfriend through one of our events, so they have not only filled her stomach, but her heart as well!
